As part of the events to mark 70 years of diplomatic relations between Finland and Israel, on January 21st, 2021 the HUJI International Office hosted an online festive event, with joint participation of the Hebrew University and the University of Helsinki. The event opened with greetings from the Ambassadors of Finland and Israel, the President of the Hebrew University, Prof. Asher Cohen and the Rector of the University of Helsinki, Prof. Sari Lindblom.
The meeting, in which members of the universities’ administration, faculty, staff and students participated, featured a clear and optimistic message about the importance of the inter-institutional academic connection between Israel and Finland, which began in 2006. A strong message of hope was expressed for continued development of joint and new activities for the benefit of our communities-- including student and staff exchange programs, development of a joint doctoral program and promotion of research collaborations.
